Arsenic

Arsenic Symptoms: Arsenic poisoning will primarily affect the lungs, skin, and liver,  Headaches, confusion, drowsiness, convulsions, and changes in fingernail pigmentation may occur with chronic arsenic poisoning.  Other conditions to watch out for are vomiting, diarrhea, bloody urine, muscle cramps, gastrointestinal upsets, and convulsions.

Arsenic produces a generalized toxicity involving the digestive tract, mental confusion and general aches, flu-type symptoms.  It is important to realize in an arsenic detoxification it can produce headaches.  It is suspected there may be some swelling of the dur inside the skull.  Patients report the headache is unrelenting, severe and can continue for days.

Sources: Arsenic is a highly poisonous metallic element that can be found in water, pesticides, laundry aids, beer, table salt, seafood, tobacco smoke, smog, bone meal, dolomite, and kelp.  Workers involved in pesticide production, copper smelters, makers and sprayers of insecticides, miners, sheep dip workers, and those in the metallurgical industries are at a high risk for skin cancer, scrotal cancer, hemangiosarcoma of the liver, cancer of the lymphatic system, and lung cancer due to toxic levels of arsenic in their bodies.

Nutritional Support: Chelation therapy with EDTA can clear some arsenic, but not as easily as it clears some of the other heavy metals.  Ozone therapy has always proven to be succesful.  Recovery is excellent for the removal of heavy metals. Vitamin C protects the body somewhat from arsenic toxicty.

Dr. Terry Franks has found the only effective sugstance to treat arsenic is selenium in extremely high doses.  He recommends for patients that feel a headache coming on to take three to six tablets of selenium every fifteen minutes over a period of hours until the pain starts to recede or levels out.  Dr. Franks experience is that once the headache gets established there is almost nothing to relieve it.
